My Approach

To understand my approach, one needs to start with something called core debilitation, which is a state that speaks to our emotional systems being torn up at their deepest levels.  I’ve found core debilitation is a state that we’ve both normalized and learned how to suppress, ignore, and cover over in this culture.  All of the issues and problems my clients struggle with are expressions of a debilitated core coming to the surface in a myriad of ways, yet people are generally blind to how this works because they’ve learned that distancing themselves from this deeply painful state is the sensible thing to do.  My approach isn’t grounded in coping, working around, and further deadening this situation.  It accepts the fact that a debilitated core is the real problem, and it sets out to help people heal at a core level so the heart of their issues and problems can be addressed.

Healing at a core level is exceptionally difficult to accomplish because you need to be able reach and impact a very deep and seemingly immovable part of the emotional system.  It demands that you have a tool that can stimulate the organic healing process that kicks in when we’re torn up at such a deep level so you can help this healing process move forward.  To do this, I use something called the songs of Life, which is an old, earth-based healing modality.  The songs, which would fit impeccably within a Native American culture, are completely foreign to our own, and so just like with core debilitation, most who hear about them don’t have any reference point to make sense of them by way of their experience.  Using song to heal at a core level usually ends up sounding like a bunch of ‘woo woo’ nonsense to many, but I can assure you it’s not.   I’ve used song to boost people’s core healing process for 25 years, and then it’s up to my clients to learn how to step in and to meet this process so they can learn to do their part to help actualize the types of results it offers.

In the end, my approach is rooted in the axiom ‘You don’t know what you don’t know.’  That means you have to experience it to really know and understand it, simple as that.  To help folks that are curious about but inexperienced with my work, I have written a blog—www.douggrandblog.com—that shares the details of my approach by sharing how I went through it myself as I struggled through and overcame my own issues and problems.  I suggest you start with the blog, and if my explanations and stories resonate with you, then I suggest you contact me so you can start the work.  You can expect things to start shifting in the first two months of our work, so it won’t take long to start testing things out to see if this work is for you.
